Presentation

ISEL is the engineering school of the University of Le Havre Normandy.

Directed by PhD Andréa Santos, and organised by functional directors, the school has forty permanent teachers, professors and administrators, as well as forty external industrial and academic visiting speakers.

The Teaching team

ISEL’s teaching team is composed of teaching, engineers, and researchers in four major disciplines who also teach: computer science, mechanics and production, management science and mathematics.

The link with research is very important, allowing the courses proposed to be based on the latest advances in research and innovation in the engineering world.

How ISEL is governed

ISEL is supervised by a governing institution for decision-making and operational affairs, responsible for defining, structuring and organising large strategic orientations, the research strategy, and the pedagogical innovation.

School Council

In conformity with Article L713-9 of the national education code, the administrative council administers ISEL. By inscribing in the politics of the establishment and the national rules in force, the general politics of the institute, in particular the pedagogical orientations and the programme of research are defined.

Scientific Council

ISEL encourages research in the fields of its specialities in leaning on all the laboratories and resources of the University of Le Havre Normandy. To this end, the scientific commission gives advice on the research programme of ISEL, the allocation of human and financial resources.

Programs evolution Council

The Evolution Programs Council is intended to give an opportunity for strategic reflection and to make propositions to the School’s Administrative Council, notably for allowing the training to be adapted in relation to the evolution of the professions following the diplomas delivered by the school.

Recruitment Council

The commissions for the choice of teachers abides by the rules concerning the recruitment of researcher-teachers and teachers.

Council for Direction

The Council for Direction assists the Director in the way the affairs of the school are conducted. It is presided over by the Director of ISEL. The Council for Direction can be called in a larger context with the directors and other staff members responsible for different sectors, or as a restricted group, consisting simply of assistant directors.

Pedagogical Council

The pedagogical council aims to harmonise the Institute’s pedagogical issues : courses organisation, the content of the programmes and the management of teaching equipment.
